SEO Abbotsford is the search side of Self-Edit Technologies, the Abbotsford web company Jeff Curnew founded in 1998. This page is the short version of who you’d be dealing with if you hire us as your SEO company: the people, the tool, and how the work is measured.
Who we are
I’m Jeff. I started Self-Edit in 1998 building websites for Fraser Valley businesses, back when “search engine optimization” meant getting listed in a directory. We’ve watched every version of Google’s local results come and go since, and we’ve seen what the SEO industry became along the way: a lot of monthly reports, a lot of one-year contracts, and very little a business owner could check.
This site used to be part of that. The old seoabbotsford.com sold a $750 setup and $150 a month on a one-year contract with “guaranteed placements”. I’m not proud of the wording. In 2026 we rebuilt it around a tool I built for our own use, RankTrack, which runs your searches from a real browser in our office and draws the line. The prices are on the pricing page and there’s no contract, because the chart makes one unnecessary.
The work is done by a team of local people in our office on McCallum Road: design, development, content, social and the rank tracking. The people you meet on the first call are the people on your account in month twelve.
How we work
- You deal with people who are here. Not an account manager in another city, not a junior who inherited your file. Our team is in Abbotsford, and the number on this site rings in the office.
- Everything is measured from your city. Rankings look different from Abbotsford, Mission and Chilliwack. We check from where your customers are.
- We publish our own misses. The front page shows where this site ranks for its own terms, measured every day, and the weekly notes say what moved.
- Nothing goes out with your name on it that you haven’t read. Content, Google Business Profile posts, review replies: you see them first.
- We’ll tell you what can wait. Half the businesses in Abbotsford don’t need half of what we sell on day one. Which half is which is written down.
- We won’t do the things that get listings suspended. No bought links, no fake reviews, no keyword-stuffed pages. If a competitor is doing them and winning, we’ll say so, and we’ll say what usually happens next.
